Ten Ted(X) Talks You Need To Watch

TEDx Talk is a showcase for speakers presenting great well-formed ideas in under 18 minutes. The difference between TED and TEDx events are that the former takes more of a global approach while the latter typically focuses on a local community. The ‘x’ in TEDx stands for independently organized TED event. 
Here is a list of 10 TED(X) talks that people need to watch

Held in Dubai in December 2015, On-Air personality, Malavika Vardan discusses the power conversations have; giving new perspectives, opening doors, making war or peace and defining the human race.

Equating conversation to mental links, and listing seven ways to make conversations; The first-word flood gate, skipping the small talks, finding the me-too’s, paying a unique compliment, asking for an opinion, being present, making eye contact, name animal, place and thing.

Recorded at the TEDwomen studios in New Orleans, Louisiana in November 2017. Nigerian Speaker and Writer Luvvie Ajayi whose goal is to critique the world, shorty systems, and the ones who have refused to do better.

It is a TED talk that would implore anyone who watches to speak up, not to be afraid of being the first to lend a voice or be the lone dominoes that cause the rest to fall.

It is about leaving our comfort zone because comfort is overrated and that’s is why we have to be uncomfortable with being comfortable and we have to speak the hard truth

On this TEDx talk, Travel Blogger Gabby Beckford takes us on a tour on embracing opportunities even when we can’t see them. It is about reclaiming opportunities that are already gathering dust. And awareness is only half the equation, the other is inspiring action.

She talks about applying for over 200 scholarships, grant, and travel contests from the age of 17-21 and winning over $70,000 doing this as a full-time student with a part-time job because there had to be something amazing out there for her to see.

Dancer, author, and Entrepreneur Chen Lizra starts off this TED talk with a seductive dance. 

Traveling to Cuba since 2005 to learn from the best dancers is where she understood that seduction is much more than the negative aura it has been awarded or the overt sexualization of the word but it is a valuable life skill and an art that can be taught and mastered.

Seduction is about charm, connection, pride, self-confidence, vulnerability, and appeal. It is about desire, confidence, body language, tone of voice, touch, and arousal.

Held in Florida in March of 2017, Sarah Knight teaches us to mentally declutter our private spaces without any regrets and by doing so, we are free to focus our time, money, and energy on things that make us happy.

She equates our f*cks to time, money, and energy, she also explains what a f*ck budget is and sticking to it. Furthermore, there is the concept of the ‘Not sorry Method’ which comprises of two steps; deciding what you don’t give a f*ck about and not giving a f*ck about them.

Fashion Model Cameroon Russell addressed an audience in Washington DC in October of 2012. 

Image is both powerful and superficial and she bolstered that fact with a little experiment where she transformed from wearing a short gown to a sweater and skirt and a pair of flats in less than 10 seconds right there on the stage.

She goes on to answer questions with her 10+ years’ experience of accumulated modeling knowledge especially on how she has received benefits not because of who she is but what she looks like and one thing that is constant is the power of the image in our perceived failure or success.

Simon Lancaster spoke in Verona in April of 2016 on Speech writing secrets and the art of rhetoric’s which is a secret language of leadership.

And there are six techniques to speak like leaders and make difficult arguments seem plausible; Three breathless sentences, three repetitive sentences, three balancing sentences, Metaphors, exaggeration, and rhymes.

8.    “VIDEO GAMES CAN EMPOWER PLAYERS TO MAKE THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE” BY ERIN REYNOLDS [A TEDXGRANDPARK TALK]

The speaker was game designer Erin Reynolds, the venue was Los Angeles, CA and the date was December 2019.

Superpowers are available in not just playing but making video games. She postulated a certain formula; PLAY + TECHNOLOGY X COLLABORATION = SUPERPOWERS

Video games can allow people to experience the inexperience, take risks, and have fun at it. She wants us to find our inner superpowers and use the coolest technology to create impactful experiences and make the world a more connected and peaceful place

9.    “IT DOESN’T TAKE MONEY TO MAKE MONEY” BY BRANDON LEIBEL [A TEDXSDSU TALK]

“Not having money to start your business can be the biggest thing for your business,” says Brandon Leibel, Cofounder of Shark Tank.

He discusses channeling inner creativity and resourcefulness in a startup company with zero funding and utilizing resources available to all and sundry with little sales because of the sheer urgency and desperation they all had.

Lack of money forces you to do things you never have imagined. Your lack of money would finance your resourcefulness and make you successful.

Indian veteran movie stars Shah Rukh Khan in one of the most humorous yet eloquent and utterly touching TED talks, gives a speech about his experiences, tools for survival, navigating in Bollywood as one of the greatest to do so, human innovation, family struggles, authenticity, grace and compassion and so much more.
